Courses & ProgramsBachelor's Degree ProgramThe Bachelor's Degree in Business and Marketing Education at NCSU is designed to prepare professional teachers to teach Business and Marketing courses in the middle and secondary schools. All program graduates are qualified to be licensed by the State of North Carolina as business and marketing education teachers (grades 7-12). The appropriate teacher license is based on the student's type of “content-area” courses and practical experience for either the business teacher license or the marketing teacher license. These licenses are part of the State's licenses in Career and Technical Education. Initial Licensure Program (ILP)The Initial Licensure Program in
Business and Marketing Education at NCSU is
a 12 credit hour program consisting of three courses in the Department
of Curriculum and Instruction. This program is designed specifically
for provisional licensed teachers currently in the classroom. The
required courses are offered through distance education and delivered
entirely via the Internet and field-based experiences. To apply for Initial Licensure Program and for information on the ILP process, requirements and necessary forms see Resources link. The courses are identified below. Course TitlesECI 561 Curriculum and Instruction in Business and Marketing Education (3 semester hours - no prerequisite) ECI 562 Business and Marketing Education Program Management (3 semester hours -no prerequisite) ECI 657 Internship in Business and Marketing Education (6 semester hours - prerequisite: completion of ECI 561) ECI 560 Professional Development in Business and Marketing Education (3 semester hours - Not Required **) ** Note: ECI 560 is not required for completion of the ILP program, but will help satisfy NCDPI requirements for provisional licensure credit hours within the first teaching year. This Graduate level course is offered in the Summer II session. Master's Degree ProgramThe Master's Degree in Business and Marketing Education at NCSU is designed to further prepare qualified business and marketing educators for career roles in the profession. It is designed for students who have already developed competence in business and marketing and who hold a teacher license in Business or Marketing Education.
