to Initial Licensure
Steps to Initial Licensure for ILP Students
Please review the requirements listed below for having your request
for an "A" license processed through North Carolina State University.
"A" Licensure Requirements:
- An undergraduate/graduate degree in Business and/or Marketing or
related field of study from an accredited four year institution.
- Successful completion of ECI 561, ECI 562, and ECI 657 (online courses
- see Courses & Programs) with a Minimum grade of B required for licensure credit.
- Passing scores on one of the following PRAXIS exams.
Praxis taken must match the area in which the Provisional License is issued. For dual licensure, both Praxis exams are required.
- Business Education (minimum 580)
- Marketing Education (minimum 169)
- Appropriate Forms: Complete the appropriate forms for the program.

on this website. Fill in the required information and mail them in:
- Initial Licensure Plan with Social Security Permission -
This form MUST be sent in by
completion of the first course. It
should be mailed to:

- Candidate for Professional Licensure Data form (Form 1)
Note: Item #4 Degree Type is "1"-Lateral Entry. (Even
if you have been accepted to the Master's Program, use this code
to obtain initial licensure.)
Note: The Code for Business Education is 00760 and for Marketing
Education it is 00730.
- Verification by Institution - fill out the top
part of this form only.
Mail the Candidate and Verification forms to the following address:

- In addition to the above forms, you will need the following:
- Your final official NC State University transcript with the three
ILP courses. (Request through Registration & Records - there
is a fee.);
- Photocopies of all transcripts from previous colleges or universities;
- A credit card payment or a certified check, money order, or personal
check for $55.00 made payable to: Licensure Section, NCDPI; (THIS
IS NOT NECESSARY IF YOU HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR YOUR PROVISIONAL
LICENSE!)
- Appropriate PRAXIS scores.
NOTE: Because it may take 6-8 weeks for your license to be processed
at the State Department of Public Instruction, you may want to
register to take you PRAXIS exams during the first part of the
spring semester. Call Teacher Education at NCSU 919-515-7160
to inquire about test dates and locations. Your request for Licensure
will only be processed when all of
the above requirements have been met and all paperwork is completed
and returned to the program
