Master's Degree in Business and Marketing Education brief Overview.
- 4.1 Who is the Master's in Business and Marketing Education
designed for?
- The Master of Education Degree Program with a concentration in Business
and Marketing Education is designed to further enhance the professional
credentials of licensed (Class A) Business and Marketing Education
teachers and to prepare them for leadership roles within the profession.
It is intended for teachers who desire the master's degree, advanced
licensure (Class M), and preparation for National Board Certification.
- 4.2 How do I apply to graduate school?
- Follow the guidelines for graduate
school admission for the College of Education - Curriculum
and Instruction. Please note that the admission dates for this departmental
program are earlier than the admission dates for the Graduate School.
- 4.3 Are there any admission testing requirements?
- Scores from either the Miller's Analogy Test (MAT) or the GRE test are required for Graduate School admission into the Master's of Education
in Business and Marketing program.
- 4.4 Do I need letters of recommendation? If so, from whom?
- You will need three letters of recommendations. They should be from
individuals who can attest to your professional credentials and expected
success within the NCSU graduate program.
- 4.5 Can I do the ILP program and a Master's at the same time?
- No, the ILP is a separate program. However, ECI 561 and ECI 562 may
be used to meet the elective requirements of the Master's degree.
- 4.6 What is the minimum time it takes to complete this program?
- The Master of Education degree program requires a minimum of 36 semester
hours and does not include a thesis. If the student were attending
full time, the program could be completed in two years. However, part
time students will take longer depending on their course load each
semester.
- 4.7 How long do I have to complete the requirements?
- You will have six years to complete the requirements for a Master
of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration
in Business and Marketing Education.
- 4.8 Can I pursue classes full or part time?
- Once you are admitted to the program, you must be continually enrolled
for the fall and spring semesters until all degree requirements are met.
However, you can pursue these classes on a part-time or full-time basis.
- 4.9 Is campus attendance required at any time?
- No, there is no mandatory on campus requirements. But you may take
on campus traditional face-to-face courses offered by NCSU to meet
the 36 hours credit requirements.
- 4.10 Is there a minimum GPA I must maintain.
- Yes. All N.C. State University graduate programs require an overall
GPA of 3.0.
- 4.11 If I am a PBS student, how many courses can I take?
- As a PBS student, there is no limit to the number of courses that
you can take. However, all credits may not be accepted as part of the
degree program requirements.
- 4.12 How many PBS credits can I transfer to my degree?
- You are only allowed to transfer 12 credit hours of PBS credit to
your degree program.
- 4.13 What hardware/software is required to participate in this program?
- Many of your technical requirements can be answered at the N.C. State
Distance Education web site listed above. Specific software/hardware
needs can be found at the technical
requirements page under "Getting Started".
- 4.14 What are the costs associated with this program?
- In addition to the graduate school entry fee, your fees will
vary depending on your course load. You can access a fee schedule for
on campus graduate classes at the University

classes at the Distance Education
web site, click on ECI in the right hand column and look for your
course number. A fee is required by NC Department of Public Instruction to upgrade your license to a Class M status.
